Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist and musician. She is also the youngest and first woman to win an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shankar is the hottest star on sitar music. Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student as well as his daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982, and her first years she split between London New Delhi. When she was 13 she staged her debut performance in New Delhi. After moving to Encinitas, CA in 1999 she received an honorary high school diploma. Anouskha still has a promising music and acting career, even though she's young. She has been performing with her father on stage for many years. Her debut solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. The stage work she has done is extensive for she has appeared in all of the world's major venues. Anoushka's career goes beyond the realm of music. At the age of 9 she began her studies in music alongside her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka gained a lot of knowledge by traveling across the globe together with her father. She performed at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was presented an award from the British Parliament as the most renowned Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and the youngest winner of this award.
